The "Megandorf Prize" is named after Lothar Megandorf and recognizes outstanding figures in the fields of three-dimensional books and papermaking. This award is nominated every 2 years and includes categories such as Best Paper Engineering, Outstanding Emerging Paper Engineer, Best Artist Book, and Lifetime Achievement. Lothar Meggendorfer was a German master of three-dimensional book design, paper engineer, illustrator, and cartoonist in the 19th century. On Christmas Day in 1878, Lothar Meigendorf had a sudden idea and made a mechanical book as a Christmas gift for her son. From then on, she unexpectedly stepped into the world of three-dimensional book creation, and three-dimensional books became a popular category of books.

Approaching Sanxingdui "is a visually stunning panoramic paper art three-dimensional book about Sanxingdui. It uses 7 three-dimensional pages to lead readers to uncover the mysterious veil of ancient Shu Kingdom in exploration, comprehensively presenting the archaeological excavation process of Sanxingdui and the general appearance of Sanxingdui civilization. It was selected as the" 2022 China Good Book "and became the first three-dimensional book to be selected for this award. The Old Man and the Sea "is the first Nobel Prize in Literature work presented in the form of a three-dimensional book. The book has more than 20 exquisite and movable three-dimensional paper art installations, which integrate three-dimensional illustrations into the book without weakening the original text of the masterpiece. The two complement each other, allowing readers to experience the joy of traditional reading and immerse themselves in rich three-dimensional paper art scenes.

These two books are both planned by the Yueran 3D Book team under the "Green Gourd" brand. The main planner of the team, Wang Wei, is currently a leading figure in the field of 3D book design in China. He has been designing 3D books since the 1990s and has won the highest award in the global 3D book industry, the "Megan Dove Award for Best Paper Art Designer". It is worth mentioning that the panoramic 3D book "Opening the Forbidden City" created by the team over three years is 3.2 meters long and has been praised as a book that "can directly bring the entire Forbidden City back home".
